Come Celebrate Founding Day with the Sisters of St. Paul's Monastery with Mass and a Cookout!

June 22, 1948 is an important date in the history of this Monastery. 76 years ago, 178 Sisters made the courageous decision to missionally leave their home at the Monastery of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota (at that time the largest community of Benedictine women religious in the world--at over 1,300 vowed religious). To honor this important milestone in our community, the Sisters are celebrating the Sacred Liturgy at 8:00am with the pilgrims walking the 1.5 mile path through the Priory Preserve. At 11:30am, the Sisters will celebrate the Eucharist thanking God for 76 years of the Benedictine way of life here in St. Paul. Following the Mass, the Sisters remember and honor the Sisters enjoying their Eternal rest with a blessing of the cemetery. With the help of Hill-Murray School we will enjoy a DELICIOUS cook out on the beautiful grounds of the Monastery.

So, what should you expect?

You are welcome to attend just the Mass (notice the registration options) or just the cookout.

All guests 18 or under will join us for free; other guests are welcome to register to help offset the costs of hosting the cookout. Please also notice there are options to make a donation to the Sisters to celebrate their 76th year of mission and ministry among us and also options to sponsor this specific event (every dollar helps to offset events costs for the Sisters).

The Mass will be in the Chapel, the blessing of the cemetery (weather-permitting) will be throughout the cemetery. The meal will be outside near the cemetery (again, weather permitting). Our rain plan is to host our guests in the dining room, Riepp Room, and the Community Room.

The Sisters of St. Paul's Monastery, and the staff of the Monastery and the Benedictine Center hope that you will join us for this joyous celebration!
