Monthly Oblate Meeting - January 2025

Greetings fellow oblates! In 2025, we begin our new ongoing formation for all oblates of St. Paul’s Monastery. This is our opportunity to be together as an oblate community, but also to spend intentional time in prayer, lectio, and study – all pillars of what it means to be Benedictine.

These monthly sessions are also meant to be an opportunity for Oblates to invite a guest to join us. This can be one way of introducing others to the monastery and to the Rule of Benedict and, maybe even the possibility of becoming an Oblate! If you are bringing a guest, you must register them if they are coming for dinner. The cost of dinner is each Oblate’s (and guest’s) responsibility.

Each month after we have finished our lectio together, is our time for conversation and focusing on being Benedictine in whatever format the group desires. We will discuss this at our first meeting too. For our first meeting, and to get us started, we will simply have a discussion about each of our favorite Benedictine Values (listed below). You are invited to pick one of these values and be prepared to share (if you are comfortable doing so) why that particular value speaks to you.
